Chris Tooman

MI Land Manager
Chris joined the team at Western Land Services in 2008. Don’t let his title fool you, he has experience in a multitude of basins across the country. His skill set includes expertise in lease acquisition, title & abstract research, as well as due diligence, curative and operations. He is equipped to handle your project from start to finish, no matter the location. He is a Certified Professional Landman with the American Association of Professional Landmen, board member of the Michigan Association of Professional Landman and active member of the Michigan Oil and Gas Association and International Right-of-Way Association. A Taurus, Chris enjoys craft beer, mountain biking, and spending time with family at the beach!

Ryan Karmonick

Senior GIS Analyst

Ryan started his career with Western Land Services in 2011, and very quickly assumed all GIS responsibilities on a large scale right of way gathering project in Northeast Pennsylvania. He continues to oversee those duties and support the development of that project. Ryan has also performed GIS work on various other pipeline projects throughout Appalachia, spending time in field offices communicating directly with land agents, project managers, clients, other GIS professionals, and construction crews to meet their mapping needs. His time has also been devoted to working as an in-house GIS contractor for two prominent clients in the Northeast over the past 3 years. Ryan’s mapping and project management skillset is all encompassing, having been involved in the intricacies of working on large scale pipeline projects from acquiring survey permission to laying pipe in the ground. In his free time, Ryan enjoys fishing, spending time with friends and family, an occasional cigar, three fingers of bourbon, and reading! 


Senior Land Tech

Carol started her career with Western Land Services in May 2008. A veteran processor, Carol has supported projects in various basins, including Appalachia, Michigan, Texas, Rockies, and Pacific Coast. Her experience includes assisting the Accounting team with integration of its billing system, as well the Title/Abstract team with integration of its title database. Carol has supported an array of companies:  E&P, Pipelines, Transmission Lines, and more. Her responsibilities include weekly acquisition reports, receiving signed lease/seismic files, ordering title searches, reviewing title, “processing” completed packets, creating draft invoices, preparing and recording documents, mailing lease payments, and DTO curative. Carol enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren, sewing, reading, snowshoeing, riding motorcycle, and shopping!

Senior Title & Abstract Lead

Jen was hired on at Western Land Services in 2006, and has since worked her way up to a Senior Title & Abstract Lead position. She has worked closely with a multitude of clients and law firms in various states, performing and reviewing title efforts.  She has also been cross trained in due diligence and lease take off. Jen is highly recognized for her resourcefulness, attention to detail, and ability to handle high pressure situations under tight deadlines, producing a timely and quality product every time. Outside of work, Jen values spending quality time with her son!

Project Manager – OKC

Colton started his career in the oil and gas industry immediately after college graduation in 2013. His first job involved title examination and lease acquisition in Eastern Ohio. After Ohio, Colton was offered a position with Barton Land Consultants, allowing him to return to Oklahoma where he was born and raised – an opportunity he could not pass up in order to be closer to family and friends. Colton, now a Project Manager out of our OKC office, joined the Western Land team through the acquisition of Barton Land Consultants, where he had worked since 2014, getting exposure to all facets of the land brokerage industry, including:  Title Examination, Seismic Operations, Surface Land Acquisitions, Damage Settlements, Curative, Due Diligence, and more. When Colton is not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 young boys. He also enjoys being outdoors, golfing, fishing and hunting!

Landman / Special Projects

Grant joined the team at Western Land Services in the winter of 2011.  Since then, he has carried out a variety of land work, including large and small leasing projects in basins from Appalachia to Alaska, as well as ROW acquisition for several large FERC regulated interstate pipeline projects.  Grant is recognized for his strong work ethic, keen ability to produce results, and his tenacity to see a job through. Grant works hard to bring out the best in the team surrounding him.  When not working, Grant enjoys photography, flannel shirts, and spending time with his wife and three young daughters!

Team Lead, Curative & Due Diligence

Marissa started her career with Western Land Services in 2013. Prior to joining the Western team, she received her Bachelor’s Degree from Central Michigan University.  Marissa has rapidly worked her way up in the business, gaining exposure to title, abstracting, curative, heirship, and other departments for projects nationwide. Most recently, Marissa took on a leadership position in the Due Diligence Department. Today, she is working to feel the growth of Western Land’s presence in the MidCon region. She is a member of the American Association of Professional Landmen. In Marissa’s spare time, she enjoys ice fishing, road trips, concerts, and spending time with her family and friends!

PA Area Land Manager – Canonsburg

Ben joined Western Land Services in 2007, performing lease acquisition work in Appalachia. Over the years, he has focused primarily on services within the tri-state area, while continually expanding his skill set.  After four years of managing the land records department, Ben took on a leadership role in Curative and Due Diligence.  Well versed in Appalachian title and land, he is now area manager for Western Land’s Canonsburg, PA regional office.  When not on the job, Ben enjoys spending time with his wife and four children, rooting for his beloved Wisconsin sports teams (Packers, Badgers, Brewers and Bucks), and listening to reggae music!
